In the Middle Ages, Vitré was located in the heart of the Marches de Bretagne, on the border between the Kingdom of France and the Duchy of Brittany. The barons' fortress bears witness to the numerous conflicts between the populations of both sides, but also to their flourishing trade. In the heart of this remarkable historical setting, (re)immerse yourself for a weekend in this exciting era, so close and yet so little known!

Witness armored combat, artillery and catapult fire, and equestrian demonstrations. Find your inner child with historical investigation games and wild color battles. Not forgetting to marvel at juggler shows, minstrel concerts, comic pranks and street criers. An event to discover as a family, to the delight of young and old alike!

Saturday July 20 and Sunday July 21, 2024 – Meet on the square and in the courtyard of the castle from 10 a.m. to 19 p.m. (continuous).
Full price: €7, reduced price: €4, free for under 12s. Ticket office on site.

The program throughout the weekend:

To discover…
• With Les Lions de Montfort, learn about daily civil and military life in the 15th century: tableware, hygiene but also the firing of artillery pieces, including the arquebus or the culverine.

• Witness impressive demonstrations of combat in 9th century armor, both individually and in melee, on the march of the fighters of the XNUMXth Barony.

• With the Compaignons de Braëllo, share a moment of life in the time of Baron de Vitré André III in the 13th century: introduction to crossbow shooting, workshops on currency and costume, etc.

• Experience the Companions of Penthesilea and their spectacular equestrian demonstrations reproducing the hunting and war exercises formerly practiced by knights.

• Introduce yourself to the practice of medieval throwing weapons, from handling the bow to shooting the trebuchet, one of the most feared war machines of the Middle Ages.

…while having fun…
• Laugh with the Pan Theater and its joyful parody “Brigand emploi recruite”, a satire of yesterday (and today?) on the absurdity of our administrative systems but with sword fighting if you -please.

• Marvel with Axel the Juggler and his unbridled show mixing bagpipes, high-altitude diabolo and balancing of surprising objects (we won't tell you any more...).

• Listen to the storyteller and street crier Gweltaz Le Sauvage take you into his epics inspired by true medieval tales and proclaim loudly and clearly to all the villagers what you have written to him.

…and with family!
• With Médiémômes, help Princess Arya find the trail of King Eolas by solving fun and original tests combining dexterity, daring and reflection.

• Engage in memorable (and risk-free) clashes with Battle of colors, foam weapons and color battles for young and old on the program.

• Dance to the festive and colorful melodies of Aouta, acrobats and minstrels from Occitania to share with us various ancient musical flavors from around the Mediterranean.
