Step 1
It is a gravity dam in rolled compacted concrete which was filled with water in 1995. This structure represents a land hold of 283 ha in the municipalities of Champeaux, Montreuil-sous-Pérouse and Pocé-les-Bois. With a capacity of 6,8 million m3, this body of water covers an area of 173 ha. It mainly performs the functions of low-water support and flood limitation. The dam provides sufficient flow to allow the pumping of raw water upstream of Châteaubourg to supply the Plessis Beucher drinking water production plant. The surrounding area is 110 ha.
