Step 1

This town has a rich built heritage, with the castle of Plessis, the chapel of Pinel, the church, rebuilt at the end of the 18th century, or the hamlet of Falconry. The village, modest at the beginning of the 19th century, became over the years a real agglomeration formerly served by train. Home of active industrial establishments linked to carpentry work in particular, such as the old Rossignol factory or the Pasquet factory, the town retains the interesting Moulin aux Moines and Moulin Neuf. Nature break: Moulin Neuf pond: playground, fishing, hiking trail, picnic area.

Step 2

Centered on its church and the square that surrounds it, the village of Brielles largely retains the structure it had in 1810, the date of the lifting of the so-called 'Napoleonic' land register. The dictionary of the geographer Ogée reports that in the 18th century, the lands of Brielles were 'well cultivated and fertile in all kinds of grains' while in the middle of the 19th century,' the country provided a lot of canvas [...] and exports a lot of cider to Laval '. If these activities have now disappeared, the making of cider was still important at the beginning of the 20th century, if we judge by the place occupied by the cellars in the houses built during this period. Nature break: at the exit of the village, Val Fleuri site: landscaped lake with picnic area, footpath

Step 3

The village of Pertre rises to 171 meters; from the promenade of the church steeple, you can see up to 37 surrounding bell towers! The breeding of horses, draft, saddle or race are numerous and the racecourse is emblematic. Horse races have been held there since 1905. Every year in August, the racecourse brings together the best cross-country horses. Cycling is associated with a national event bringing together high level amateurs: the Circuit des 2 Provinces. Communal body of water with possibility of swimming in summer (unsupervised), picnic area, hiking trails.

Step 4

We cannot speak of Gennes without mentioning Abbé Chaupitre. Born in Gennes in 1859, this man of the church is an inventor of remedies. 45 homeopathic formulas bearing his name are still produced, which can be found in pharmacies. He is buried in the cemetery of Gennes. According to a local belief, going around his grave heals fears and, at the same time, promotes the first steps of children. The Saint Sulpice church (Historic Monument), rebuilt in the 16-17th century, has a rich sculpted decoration. From the village, a path leads to an arboretum with varied collections set up within the Huchet nurseries, at a place called "Les Creulais".

Step 5

The old town center has been relatively well preserved; it retains several dwellings dating from the 17th century and 18th century. The church of Saint Germain offers the particularity, among the churches built in the 19th century in the country of Vitré, to be built of alternating courses of black schist and gray sandstone. This polychromy can be inspired by neighboring Anjou. The achievement is due to a Vitrean entrepreneur. At a place called "Les Haies", a Japanese park "Le Jardin du Levant" offers a collection of Japanese plants including many bonsai (Tel. 02 99 96 69 51).
